Zero-dollar Marketing Strategy Is The Secret To Their Success
Owned by two like-minded individuals, Ben and Kang, they have travelled around the world and tasted in-season fruits at the farms where they were harvested. “We were disappointed with the quality of fruits in the supermarkets. The taste was totally different from its original source, which led to the birth of our online business, LazyFruits. Our vision is to provide high-quality fruits at an affordable price,” said Ben.
How did the name ‘LazyFruits’ come about?
According to Ben, being lazy is not always a bad thing. When done right, being ‘lazy’ gives you more time to do things that are important. “Shopping for fruits may seem like an effortless task, but the truth is that you need to spend time selecting them at the supermarket. LazyFruits save you the hassle by providing fresh fruits to your doorsteps,” shared Kang.
Look out for their quality assurance sticker
According to Ben, they will make a conscious effort to do another round of quality control checks on the orders, before affixing their stickers and bagging them. This is to ensure that every fruit that leaves them is of premium quality and the sticker is their guarantee. Currently, they only do next day delivery when customers order before 6pm the previous day. This allows them to consolidate the orders and will be passed on to their team who will get the fruits from the cold store. Fruits are updated according to the shipments that arrive at their cold store every day.
Zero-dollar marketing strategy
We asked Ben about his marketing strategy and he shared that they thought having an online presence would mean that people can search for their website easily. They were proven wrong when one of their friends told them that he had difficulty searching for their website. It was a wake-up call for them to explore search engine optimisation. “We tried to associate our home page title and description to what people will type when looking for fruits delivery online. On top of that, we plan to write articles to boost our page ranking,” said Ben.
Apart from that, they are using Facebook to promote their online store. According to Kang, it allows them to reach out to a larger audience and connect on a real-time basis via comments. They can also evaluate and improve on their services based on the feedback given.
